Grace Chardonnay, named after my daughter Ada Pixie Grace. Grapes grown by Alan Dean on the Deanery vineyard in Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills. Chardonnay is a variety which excels in the Adelaide Hills and shows its versatility across the many styles it is used to create. Grace is taut and fresh. Melon, stone fruit and jasmine all shine through while a lovely toasted hazelnut.Racked clean prior to bottling, after 23 months in barrel, the wine is long and succulent and mouth filling. White blossoms and nectarine, honey, apricot and a mouth coating texture. A wine to really sit with, it will change in the glass and take you on a journey and is equally as good with food and without. If you are hungry I would perhaps enjoy it with some goats curd, or with a really ripe soft cows cheese. It would also sit quite nicely with good old roast chicken.
